I agree! A lot of bizarre experimental mid range games were getting released by major publishers at the time, at bigger budgets than an equivalent indie release would get today, and a lot of those games would break even or better. Plus, devs seemed genuinely invested in trying to push boundaries with the respective hardware and its gimmicks. It's not like the state of the industry today where the handheld systems can play....the worst versions of AAA games from last gen
