SH 0rigins = the OG "The Movie - The game" slop, and a lore-butchering "prequel game".

-As an intended prequel to SH1, it does plenty of stupid mistakes with the story, and complicates things WE ALREADY KNEW.
-The "mirror world" gimmick... goes against the original game's logic and lore, and takes away all tension the "Otherworld" shifts used to have.
-SH1 characters that appear don't look like they did, nor behave like they should. Nor do they really have any point.
-Gameplay is clunky as fuck; mixture of 2D and 3D control styles, character runs out of breath quickly, QTE enemy encounters, breaking weapons BUT unlimited supply of them with unlimited inventory!
-The sub-plot is cheesy and predictable as well, and copypaste of SH2.
-Speaking of SH2 copypaste, there's a very lame PH ripoff that appears TWICE.
-Signs of The Movie's influences already visible ("PH", Alessa's scenes ...)
-Looks ugly, even if it was a PSP game.

... Yes, in case you haven't realized, the SH film is essentially a slur to any OG SH-fag.
It's terrible, do not let anyone claim otherwise.

Now, somewhere in-between all these big home console SH games, we got the Wii's "Shattered Memories".
The game got tons of unnecessary flak even before it was released. I'm guilty of participating in this as well, no less thanks to my love towards the OG SH1.
However, the moment you realize that it is NOT a "remake" of the original SH, but it's very own entity, that merely utilizes *your* own memories and expectations "against" you, the game actually becomes a fascinating, atmospheric experience.

Cons: Not really scary and puzzles are poor.
It's still a chill (no pun intended), atmospheric "Urban explorer" ride, with some underrated as fuck Akira Yamaoka tunes to vibe to.
It's also great for replays + to watch your friends to play, as the experience can vary greatly from person to person. I played it 5 times, and watched 2 other people play it later, and STILL witnessed new content!
