Venom NEVER lost to Peter in the 90s, his whole point was that he was more powerful so Peter had to like, use team ups, tricks, smarts to beat him etc. It put him in peril, which is actually interesting. But a lot of Spidey fans want borderline SoL where the romance is more important than the villains
