the character has to be cool and likeable to do that. like Blade. and even blade doesn't go around supplanting other peoples' roles. he just executes his own with unstoppable force and precision. rey was not cool OR likeable and she stomped all over other characters in the story. basically, the character has to be written from a man's perspective - he's already at the peak of his game, he has what he wants, and he knows what he needs to do. he doesn't need to expand outside of his skillset or undermine anyone else to be the best. rey is written from a woman's perspective - insecure, seething, feels entitled to more than she's gotten. she needs to undermine other characters to prove herself and right the perceived wrongs of being underestimated.
