>often power fantasies
>uninspired gamified systems
>relying on a single gimmick only, like "I reincarnated as X"
>etc

Many classic stories like Alice in Wonderlands, Wizard of Oz, Return to Oz, Narnia (to give non anime examples) and so on are technically isekai, but are not at all like what most isekai media is like in todays japanese/chinese market.
