Africa is gigantic. I would propose a "linear" region following the source of the Nile, passing through interesting landscapes starting with snowy mountains, cloud forest, rainforest, tropical jungle, swamps, savannah, desert, and coast. Or the other way around, using Egypt as a starting point and continuing with Congo, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Madagascar as a DLC is perfect. This island and Lake Malawi are perfect examples of divergence with multiple regional forms from a single species of fish in Lake Malawi and convergence of lemurs and fossas in Madagascar. Being among the first inhabitants, they took on forms similar to animals that didn't exist on the island. That's why some lemurs are gigantic like chimpanzees, others are small like mice, others glide like flying squirrels, and others created a kind of sonar like bats. The fossa, being a relative of weasels, grew up with a shape similar to the big cats.
