Nah, slasher films gave way to the gorn thrillers because there's little more you can do with them until they end up becoming parodies of themselves like what happened with the Halloween franchise, thanks Busta Rhymes! Literally just a case of getting oversatuated when it was a hot topic and then crashing out naturally, this happens to a lot of genres and mediums, its why you don't see that many military themed arena shooters anymore. Same thing happened to gorn thrillers which is why we end up flip flopping between the two in recentish times with reboots and new sequels.

Comics are the most devalued aspects of both DC and Marvel due to all of the alternative media they get, there's little point in buying a comic when its contents differ wildly from the more acessible games, movies and tv shows unlike a manga where the anime adaptation has complete parity other than filler and original movies. This is why Batman comics can sell around 50K on a good day ,but still rank high overall as one of the most objectively successful franchices in the world. There's less quality control because at the end of the day the comics are now primarily a vechicle to produce adaptable content for other media sorta similar to what's happening with Pokemon.
