Genndy says Fixed is supposed to be his 'Hangover' or 'Superbad,' but the difference is that those can actually be advertised to general audiences without scaring them away. Fixed has talking dog protagonists which makes it look juvenile--assuming the hand-drawn animation doesn't do that already--but its subject matter is inherently gross or inappropriate. Those raunchy live-action comedies of yesteryear had enough grounded elements to attract audiences; Fixed simply doesn't.

I'll always fantasize about that alternate timeline where it got a theatrical run, but I just know it would've been an impossible sell to moviegoers. Be grateful Netflix saved it.
