Live A Live is a more earnest use of the medium as a narrative tool imo. If you want to see how a videogame can be the ideal medium to deliver a meaningful story (or a collection or them in its case) then I highly recommend it. Importantly, it doesn't take itself too seriously -- except where needed.
Incredible to think the game is over 30 years old (although the remake is fine way to experience it if you wish to play it)
