ive always felt the empire lacked the prestige that even the historic hre had. the hre had elements of italy, France and Spain in it and had claims to much of Europe and Christendom as the heir of Charlemagne and the gaurenteer of the pope and the catholic church.

On the other hand, The empire is just really the german lands and maybe a bit of hungry/checia out east. With Tilea (italy) Bretonnia (france) and estalia (spain) doing pretty much their own thing. THier patron god isnt even that widely spread outside of the empire it seems. Its not like the above connections couldnt be true while making each of the other europe analogs thier own things with only lip service fealty to the pope (grand theogonist) and emperor (Or dispute the emperors position like the king of bretonia)
