They accumulate ammonia in their tissues. I wouldn't even consider eating a lobster over 2 1/2 pounds. Anything larger than that is illegal where I used to lobster, and mostly just decorative if you find a dead one.
The ideal lobster meal is two 1 1/4 lb lobsters, drawn butter, corn on the cob, roll and a slaw of some kind.
