Lots of reasons.
Part of it is that "housing isn't that expensive. you (and I) just poor. While Boomers had it best, USA housing is still affordable compared to what many other countries face, developed or not. It probably doesn't help that many anons either can't attract or maintain/mutually desire a relationship to split the cost of housing with.

That said, the deal is supposed to be I get fucked on housing price because I get the good jobs. If those go away, the whole deal collapses.
