Whatever you want man. That's another inconsistent thing about them but I guess that's the point. Peter strikes me as the type of guy to get skeeved out about simple, reasonable things if he freaked out about it being alive. Then that probably means it felt like fabric at first and in our more detailed comics it either can look like fabric or oily goo. So it can change.
Though my personal preference, I guess fabric that's real soft. Women though? I bet they can make it comfy inside but they should have skin that's slippery, smooth, and whatever feels good...to touch ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
