cinema gets to you firstly through your audiovisual senses, and the parts of the brain that process them aren't isolated from other parts that process neurohormonal, emotional, behavioral and visceral phenomena. That is why for example, the plastic elements of a film alone can stir different feelings and thoughts to you without the need of a plot or narrative.This is my humble, personal interpretation.
