It's kinda funny and weird how younger people like people born after 96 have a weird anti-western art thing going on now but I guess it's just how things go, anime was weird and dumb and now comics are ugly and dumb but I also notice lot of people have like a weird face autism and think anything with ground or realistic faces is ugly in art for some weird goddamn reason even if it's anime/manga like you show a kid Yoshiaki Kawajiri or Ryoichi Ikegami art, I bet they'll call it ugly cause it's more detailed and grounded face but if you made faces generic they like it. Most US boxart is fine and all the ''bad ones'' are rare exceptions honestly.

That's the ironic thing though no one thought any of the now as we call ''typical'' anime style back then they were just cartoons, they could sold shit as is but they scared of the market but like sure most shit would sell fine, it reminds me of my boomer dad playing Trauma Center and thinking nothing of the anime artstyle like most people didn't think jack shit about it just saw it as cartoons till people start making big deal pointing out differences
