I think what you are saying is very much reasonable, and I'm glad that a relative of yours is finding joy in playing games (I'm genuinely glad for you and her).
My biggest issue when it comes to making games accessible is that it usually takes away from the people who like the challenge and get rewarded for it.
A perfect example of this is Street Fighter 6, the game has 2 different control settings, you have 'Classic' and 'Modern'.
With Modern Controls, the inputs for moves is much more simplified and practically brainless to play on, which is not an issue.
The main problem is that Capcom dumb down Classic Controls as well, some moves that used to require a motion input can now just be pressed simultaneously with the directional d-pad + some buttons and you are good to go.
