If you design a game where ALL moves can be done without committing to a charge or a motion it changes the game completely.
If you have very slow overheads, those can be reacted to with an invincible move in the same time it would take to block which is a massive gamechanger. You can see characters with invul flashkicks choose to use those to react to slow overheads in certain other games, its the removal of motions that has led to the current crop of games basically eliminating full invul from moves that don't cost EX meter.
Without motion inputs the genre changes a lot and mostly just gets homogenized, Blazblue did it perfectly by including a stylish mode with a few auto combos and 1 button specials but the tradeoff was losing some moves from every character, instant block being gone and always being forced to barrier (guilty gear FD). This meant that casuals could have fun in an organic way that didn't interfere with the design choices for the rest of the game.
Its literally that easy but for some reason no one wants to keep the complexity on the main game with stylish mode for anyone that wants less complexity.
