Someone explain to me why muffle or invisibility for that matter are classified as illusion spells when they should be alteration. The modification in sound and opacity are based in physical reality that affects everyone. Illusion magic is targeted and applied directly to sentient beings to alter their individual subjective perception.
Same with magelight spells. That is not an illusion, it's an illumination (alteration) of the physical world, but I guess the hacks at Bethesda think because illusion and illumination are etymologically related they belong in the same ontological magic categorization.
