As disappointing as Yamamoto jobbing was, I love that it happened. Not having a character who can solve the problem with one swing of his exploding sword and having to rely on everyone else, who have been sinking into the background for several arcs now, creates actual stakes. The world is changing, there's no room for fossils like him anymore.
