Amy's original personality was meant to reinforce the "EEEWW, GIRLS!" attitude of elementary school boys, which in turn became pretty annoying to endure for the Sonic fans who were older teens in the early 2000s (which was the height of Amy's most unpersonable traits).

Amy's most notorious characterization comes across as immature and someone who doesn't understand how (or perhaps refuses) to read social cues and the effect her behavior has on others.
