There were still Slavic speakers in the Peloponnese during the 15th century, it's totally bonkers to deny that Greeks (and especially those in the north) have a meaningful Slavic component in them. Modern Greeks are basically a blend between Anatolian settlers brought over post-Slavic invasion by the Byzantines (this is corroborated by syntax/morphology features in European Greek dialects which suggest influence from medieval Anatolian Greek), Slavs, and a remnant population of pre-medieval "local" Greeks.
