People did not "move on" from disliking Wind Waker's visual style. It was maligned, and Nintendo changed course, stubbornly keeping it for a few handheld titles, like a child mad that people didn't like their idea. Also, let's not pretend Twilight Princess was a "bad" correction from Wind Waker. It objectively sold better than Wind Waker.
