Depends on your subjective, is what they are doing to you a threat to your own way of living? If so, that's just natural reflex, striking a snake that is biting you.
Are they a threat to your personal subjective or Ego? That's a little less justifiable, because who are you to defend your own little realm of definitions and decide they are a collective truth? That's delusional in of itself; however understandable. You'll find that most Humans like to take attacks to their perspective and Ego as direct attacks on themselves. It's what keeps us 'normal' and functional in a world that is very chaotic. So it depends on your response to these moments, whether it is justifiable madness or personal madness.
Are they a threat to Society and others? Depends on your perspective and the collective agreement of what Society is. The obvious answer, is obviously "Yes, reaction is necessity; because it challenges the normal narrative by the action of violence, corruption, extreme deviance" But one has to question the nature of Society's definition of Normal; which is a mad system in and of itself, and surprisingly fluid depending on your latitude and longitude. What is madness in one particular society, is acceptable in another and vice versa.
The answer, is that it's nuanced and subjective to the situation at hand. Whether something is Purely Defensive, Ego Defensive, or Community Defensive; one must make a mad decision in this and become an arbiter of personal judgement, despite not being entirely sane themselves. Whatever that decision ultimately comes down to, is varying shades of madness, that is never truly justified, but at the same time, some situations truly must be responded to in that manner for a 'normal' to exist; lest we abide the madness of all persons, and actions.
When I say this to you and if it insults or angers you "Why does it? What shield are you using and why are you?"
