Worth trying, the game does a lot more right than wrong, and most of its issues come from it's age (lacking the customization of other FF games, more similar to 4/6, although there are a lot of abilities for characters to learn, they learn them from equipment and a lot of the abilities are character specific). The other big issue is the battles feel very slow, which is fixed by a speedup function.
If you can get over that wonkyness, it's great. I think it might be the 2nd best FF (after the GOAT, of course).
