If he's 100% not getting to get a good happy ending, then fuck it I'd rather he goes all the way over to the other side to being evil so at the very least it doesn't feel like it was all for nothing. I really hope his whole schizo arc wasn't just about finding Dess only to have him be killed by her (assuming it's the knight) for an easy tragic gut punch, that would be lame as hell.
