Well, yeah, but my point is that we don't have to make something from Krypton just for "extra sauce", the universe is a big place, Clark shouldn't always have to fight particularly personal enemies.
Also, isn't Brainiac stealing Kandor already enough of a connection? Have him try to do the same with Metropolis, with the logic that humans are eventually going to destroy themselves like Krypton, and he's just trying to preserve them.
