How is a pyramid supposed to collapse?

It is approximately the most stable shape for making a pile considering if you just keep dropping sand it makes a cone pyramid like shape. The larger bottom layers support the smaller top layers how is it supposed to ‘collapse’.

Clearly this pyramid was EXCAVATED in antiquity but the liars gotta lie cuz thats what they do.
