Get a Gesture refurbished. This is currently the apex of chair that is still somewhat affordable.
The Herman Miller Aeron (remastered new version) or Herman Miller Embody are arguably better, but you simply cannot get those chairs at an affordable price. They haven't been around long enough for refurbishers to have a supply from offices to sell, and in the case of the Embody it's probably too high concept and expensive for offices to ever adopt.
Or get a Leap 2 (also refurbished) if you're still looking for something cheaper, but nothing below that. Aeron Classic (again, refurbished) if you want a mesh chair.
All of the chairs that are on the floor at a place like Target are dogshit, they almost certainly won't have a Steelcase or Herman Miller stocked. They can feel comfortable in the few minutes you try them at the store. They will NOT last a long time especially at the original level of comfort, and especially if you're overweight like gamers tend to be.
Gamer chairs are a scam. "Secret Lab" is a turbo scam, racing chairs are not ergonomic for desktop use. Their only benefit is really deep recline, which is really a gimmick.
One callout is that most refurbished ergonomic chairs like I've listed don't come with a headrest. Most of the chairs I listed you can find a good third party add on. For the Gesture you'll need to do some macguyvering with zip ties and something like an H4 headrest, but it does work.
