>>715300224 (OP)I got some ~$300 office thing about a year or two ago and it's holding up alright with the exception of one big tear along a seam in the middle of the seat where a poorly designed flat spring jabbed a hole through the fabric which promptly spread to said seam. Now I need to be careful every time I sit down on it lest the exposed end of the spring stab me in the ass cheek, it's sharp enough it could probably go clean through my pants and draw blood.

I just got some cheap shit from Staples a few years back. I need a new one but I cannot justify spending more than like $400 on a chair, and even that is pushing it. Anything you guys recommend?
>>715302026>only getting a "decent" product that you spend 50% of your life sitting on
Get a Gesture refurbished. This is currently the apex of chair that is still somewhat affordable.
The Herman Miller Aeron (remastered new version) or Herman Miller Embody are arguably better, but you simply cannot get those chairs at an affordable price. They haven't been around long enough for refurbishers to have a supply from offices to sell, and in the case of the Embody it's probably too high concept and expensive for offices to ever adopt.
Or get a Leap 2 (also refurbished) if you're still looking for something cheaper, but nothing below that. Aeron Classic (again, refurbished) if you want a mesh chair.
All of the chairs that are on the floor at a place like Target are dogshit, they almost certainly won't have a Steelcase or Herman Miller stocked. They can feel comfortable in the few minutes you try them at the store. They will NOT last a long time especially at the original level of comfort, and especially if you're overweight like gamers tend to be.
Gamer chairs are a scam. "Secret Lab" is a turbo scam, racing chairs are not ergonomic for desktop use. Their only benefit is really deep recline, which is really a gimmick.
One callout is that most refurbished ergonomic chairs like I've listed don't come with a headrest. Most of the chairs I listed you can find a good third party add on. For the Gesture you'll need to do some macguyvering with zip ties and something like an H4 headrest, but it does work.

Please help me, I am in need of a new chair. My back pain is driving me up a fucking wall, I just want to sit comfortably and enjoy my video games. My problem is I've gone for the high end chairs that everyone recommends already, i.e. the aeron and embody. I find them both to be very uncomfortable. I've also tried the gaming chairs every streamer has and found the seat to be painfully underpadded. I'm not disfigured, I'm just fat at 270 pounds. What do I do?
>>715303724>backpedal>strawman>ad hominemall because i pointed out your evident casual self report
>>715302257Look at refurbish sites. Google "systems office furniture", they have a 99.5% eBay rating. You can look up a video of them doing their cleaning and testing process on YouTube.
Some bigger names are Crandall, BTOD, and Madison. The r*ddit r/OfficeChairs is openly run by guys from Crandall and BTOD so be aware that those two companies have sizable astroturf shilling operations, although nonetheless people seem to have mainly good experiences with them. The one I recommended above is a Texas company with lower prices, they don't seem to try to add their own branded fabric or anything like Crandall does, they just replace anything worn with new OEM parts.
Madison has a lot of volume but quality control seems worse.
Right now you could get a Leap V2 for $375 on SOF or a Think V2 for $310, both Steelcase good chairs. A Leap v2 is $650 on Crandall or $575 on BTOD in comparison. Madison has it for about $350 but that is "open box" not refurbished, so there's not a guarantee that a defective part was replaced.
Crandall BTOD and SFO all have a 10-12 year warranty and will pay for shipping the chair back to them if there's a problem with it.
Crandall and BTOD will take the chair back for full refund within 30 days if you don't like it, SFO and Madison don't do that so keep that in mind.

My OG Aeron (bought for 250 bucks) is now over 20 years old, I've had it for over a decade, and it's holding up fine. Get one with leather arm rests if possible, all the alternatives and third party replacements fall apart, leather seems to last.

>>715314775I bought a chair like this maybe 7 years ago and it's still holding up great. Fat guy chairs are easily the way to go even if you aren't fat because they're built sturdier.
>>715311086Drink Water, stop drinking sugar water. Eat more lean meat. Eat once or twice a day.
>>715324138Same lol. Dude my shoulders killed me, and even the seating barely has support for the seating. Like come on now.

Mine has worked fine for 11 years.
>>715302249this is what I hate about office chairs, I put all my weight leaning back onto the chair so either i'm breaking the tilt lock or i'm reclining 24/7.
unironically those metal folding chairs with the plastic seats are more comfortable for me which is why i'm fine buying one every year for like 40 bucks.
so what am i to do in this situation besides fix my posture? I have yet to see an office chair that is reinforced enough to stop me from leaning back.
>>715300224 (OP)>How is your gaming chair holding up?pretty fucking bad
>How much did it cost?about ~150 usd
it was fine for 2-3 years but it broke and i put a small wooden brick under the broken part so it's pretty stable now, but it pisses me off and i want to buy something new
what chair would you guys recommend in a reasonable price of let's say 250-300 usd
>>715300224 (OP)Mine is half way of becoming you chair. It was dirt cheap during black friday 2018.
>>715326789The hard rubberised surface of the armrests makes them quite uncomfortable after a while if you've got bony elbows. Also the padding on the seat is insufficient if you have a bony ass.
Unsuitable for skeletons/10.
My chair has outline of my ass and balls imprinted on it forever. I sit on it naked more often than not
>>715327513Why do you have the PC exhaust fan pointed at your head?
>>715300224 (OP)I just bought one of those chink chair covers to hide the peeling fake leather
>>715335617He's gay extra fag and all but was very concussed, dude could barely speak after that, sounded drunk and walked like he was severely drunk for quite some time.
>>715338992This skeleton knows what's up. Had to remove the rests and buy one of those ass cushions
>>715300224 (OP)Got me a discount La-Z-Boy chair from BJs. Comfy as hell and held up for about 3 years so far with barely any sign of wear and tear except for around the arm rests.
>>715300765You nasty ass fucker
>>715305979they don't make them like they used to
>>715300765Shart all over the rest of the chair so it's uniform.
>>715310729In our communist utopia the bourgois mat-sitters shall be liquidated.
I've got a problem with most chairs, and no money to spend on new ones. Live in Portugal.
The problem is that the back of the chairs invariably bends so much after a few months that it's legit a pain for me after a while, I once removed the covers and whatnot and saw the wooden board was literally broken in two pieces.
>>715342471how the fuck are you sitting the back is bending?
>>715343280i just lean backwards into it
>>715300497mesh over fabric ALWAYS
>>715336363If it's fabric you can use a carpet shampooer on it with the attachments or you can scrub at it with soap, soft bruse and towels to work the stain out. You can also get non bleaching stain remover sprays which can work well (test on hidden fabric area to make sure they don't damage the colours), they work great for all sorts.

I will never buy a gaming chair ever again. They are the most uncomfortable shitty, rigid pieces of shit ever. I'm not talking about this particular chair by the way, this is not the one I own but they all have this exact design.
Fuck these chairs. The literal only good thing they have going for them is that they weigh quite a bit which makes them feel sturdy.
>>715300765Imagine the smell
>work office is being gutted to move to a new location
>get told we can take whatever we want
>bring my chair home
>get like a 1200 MSRP chair for free
>haven't had back problems in a decade
>>715337897You can just slide the bar in and screw up the spring resistance to make it impossible to lean back as the chair woudl slide around with you trying to push back with your feet anchored to do it.
>>715343856Yeah it's a meme. I don't know who seen racing car chairs and thought
>yeah, these are designed first and foremost with 8 hour sitting comfort in mind
>>715300306This.
I have never had a Ouija board in my house, and I NEVER WILL. There are just some things you should never mess with.
Why does the Aeron always make people in these threads seethe? $500 is a small investment for comfort and a not shitty back
>>715300224 (OP)i game on my bead
>>715318392>gaming chair >lightly sharted>barely used $2500 + tip
>>715314313We're they also sharted?
>>715343959because it's a shitty chair with a big pricetag. youre better off buying 1000-1500 dollar chair that lasts you for a lifetime
>>715300497Billum unironically gave me neck pain.

>>715344668You vill buy zhe lightly sharted chair
definitely need a new one
>>715300224 (OP)That chair sure has had to endure a whooooole lotta gamer farts throughout the years...

>>715345018Somebody get this man a lint roller
>chairs existed for hundreds of years
>somehow companies couldn't find a way to make the perfect chair for a competitive price
>but they were able to for cars
>but they were able to for air conditioning
>but they were able to for almost every product in stores
Why don't chinese companies just rip off the Aeron and these dogshit expensive chairs and sell them for like 200$? The chair industry is a fucking scam, it's literally just plastic and mesh, probably costs them 20$ to assemble together. What a fucking joke.
>>715300224 (OP)ive switched from leather to textile about 2 years ago and im never going back
>>715348625this reminds me of my keyboard hobby. literally 4 years ago a full aluminium keyboard with gaskets would cost you upwards of 500$, but ever since the chinese stepped in and started mass manufacturing custom keyboards and prebuilts the prices of everything went down drastically. you can get the same 500$ keyboard quality for 150$ now thanks to over saturation.
the same shit should happen to chairs. it's not like chairs have this extreme marvel of engineering that requires them to be 1000$+ ... if a chinese compant decided to start mass producing chairs with 80% of the quality of herman miller for like 200 or 300$ you bet your ass all these companies are gonna drop their prices drastically too. we'd probably see shit like the embody fall down to 600$.

got king size (yeah fat) dx racer in 2014 from poland manufacturer in eu, it still holds up 11 years later, nothing broken, except fake leather of course from black and red turned nearly white and brown from constant use
>>715350581The holocaust didn't happen but it will this time.
>>715323342I will always laugh at people that spend $500+ on pleather garbage.
>>715300224 (OP)I used to buy ยฃ100 (+/- ยฃ30) chairs and found they would fail constantly in one way or another in usually just over a year, so I paid ยฃ264 for a "premium" gaming chair with a lifetime guarantee in 2020 (it's ยฃ199 in 2025), and they've earned that price point and guarantee boast, because this is the most reliable chair I've ever had, the only issues with it are all aesthetic issues from wearing, but the hydraulic cylinder has stayed strong, the tilt and arms mechanisms all still work, and it's still relatively comfortable; I wish I had bought a mesh one for hot weather or one with more padding on the back, but these are minor complaints (especially the latter, as I've fallen asleep in this chair multiple times)
I recommend Anda if you're looking for a long-lasting chair
Anyone who is recommending some basic office chair (or a regular dining table chair or outdoor chair) is worth ignoring, as it's just some poor ESL faggot trying to pretend his life isn't shit and that the trash he is forced to use is suitable, like this faggot
>>715300306
>>715353441>buying a PU leather gaming chair and calling people poorlol, lmao even
>>715353628yes, I consider people buying a ยฃ5 plastic garden chair as their computer chair as poor, just as I consider people who spend ยฃ5000 on a computer chair rich
Guess what? Wealth perception is relative to how much wealth you have, like how a millionaire thinks ยฃ200 spent on a single plate of food in a restaurant might consider that "average" in relation to the "rich" billionaires spending ยฃ5k per plate because the food has edible gold in it or something
>>715354030Falling for memes while also buying shitty meme chairs is so fitting for you.

>>715300224 (OP)I bought a used Aeron for $50 off FB Marketplace.
Its from 2006 IIRC and the only issue was the thigh support pad needed to be replaced ($20) and the left armrest unlocks randomly and falls down...not sure how to fix that but w/e.
>>715300224 (OP)I have this exact chair and it's starting to look like this.
>>715300497I have had this for several years now. Works well, and is holding up. Ikea only rates it up to 275lbs though, so it might now work for you.
>>715300497just buy a used martela chair
lilla bรถg pojka din momma sucker min kuk
I had a junk chair and I kept having backache so I bought this thing that's called the Joobie, and now I no longer have back aches.
I looked at used Herman Miller Aerons and all that, but they were still expensive as shit and only very basic. The used ones had options for add-ons like armrests (which I absolutely need) and a bunch of other shit it was still over double the price of the Joobie. Not paying that much for a used chair.
Also got it in black because I don't wanna see stains on the chair, but this photo was nice.
>>715300224 (OP)What's the point of a gaming chair if you have the posture of a cooked shrimp?
>>715358680My mate got one for $5 like 15 years ago back before everyone knew Herman Miller, but nowadays every time I see them they're retardedly expensive and don't come with arm rests or anything.
>>715324138These are chairs for people who buy and rebuy gamer branded headphones, keyboards, etc. They're expensive so they must be good, but in reality they're junk and there's much better stuff available especially for the same price.
>>715300224 (OP)like $200 and it's starting to slant to the right, also the arm rests are starting to tear and it creaks from all sides.
