Right now it feels like d2 relies too much on extrinsic rewards. Fomo, limited shinies, seasonal activities, which is great for bursts, but leads to burnout and low morale, because we're not playing for what WE want.
To that end, I propose an idea for a refresh of patrols:
>Step 1:
give each planet its own pool of guns, like in y1. We're already nearly there, most of them do. Think only cosmo, edz and nessus don't, while evropa and moon need refreshes. Give them unique combos that won't be replicated elsewhere or often, like a fusion rifle with chain reaction and destab or something else cool.
>Step 2:
make each planet have a weekly rotating focus that increases shiny drop rates, like in y2
>Step 3:
planetary guns drop from just mucking around, and can always be found on the planet, with a low chance of a shiny. Completing bounties on the planet increases drop rate for that day as well. Vendors on the planet can focus stuff.
>Step 4 (and this is a big ask):
give each planet a grindable world activity, like altars of sorrow, sperminal overspload, etc. Just a place to slay out without loading back in, that always drops guns from that world. For edz, just throw back in seraph towers. Savathuns throne world, just make the wellspring accessible by foot so you don't have to load in. Cosmo, idfk, pin the tail on the randal or some shit. You get the idea.
I feel like that, by doing this, it will breathe life into an area of the game that's sorely lacking right now, and can help extend the lifespan because now we always have a goal WE can work on getting at our own pace instead of it being a replaceable activity gone in a year.
