Its quite a bit of bookkeeping to keep track of everything going on in a campaign, but it gives you so many random events and other stuff that can happen.
I'd say its fairly easy to just use those "campagin"-things and port them over to whatever game you are playing, if you dont want to use the 5 parsecs combat system. Its not bad, and its quick and easy to learn, but its not as deep as some might want their combat to be.
