CS3 should have been scrapped entirely. Trying to redo the story was a terrible decision all around, a waste of everyone's time, and just frankly boring. Are there good parts? Sure, but they're not worth the cost.
The only reason it's seen as complete trash is that CSIV is somehow even worse with it's characters. Osborne was an absolute waste of a villain, the conflict was a waste of time, and everything could have been settled much much easier if the writing team wasn't addicted to "FUFUFU WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO KNOW"
