I'm looking to upgrade my ancient 1080p monitor but I won't (and probably never will) be willing to spend too much money on my PC as hobby, so no fancy GPU now or ever. Considering this, would it be a bad idea to skip 1440p entirely, get a 4K monitor for browsing and productivity, but gaming on it at 1080p only (since it scales nicely)? Picrel is what I'm looking to buy (there's probably marginally better alternatives but I need a small base footprint).
