The only significant advantage of divvies is the psychological/emotional edge. It flips your brain into yield mode (how much I get per month) and this mode helps you a lot to not focus on price of stock and keep holding through downturns when otherwise you would have sold. So it helps consistency, and also indirectly makes you hold bigger companies so you it's less likely you will suffer catastrophic losses like with smallcaps.
