I totally forgot that I had the code to enter a locked down building in an earlier city so I put besieging Baal's castle off for a bit to go investigate. Upon entry we discover haywire security electronics and a lone terminal with an updated copy of Devil Buster. I quickly discover that the goodest of boys is trapped within the demonic code and free him, I also slay the demon responsible for the haywire security who was also hiding within the game.
That settled, we begin the attack on Baal's castle and run into Harvest who came to his senses but then insisted that he could totally solo Baal when he couldn't even last one turn against us. He then makes a big brain play and sics his entire demon cohort on us while he challenges the demon king alone.
The game essentially describes the tom and jerry sound effects of Harvest getting his shit pushed in before we enter and I stifle a chuckle as he reconsiders his life choices.
Baal proves to be surprisingly challenging, killing all of our demons before finally going down. He turns into a frog for some reason, I decide to spare him and am pleasantly surprised by the option to keep him as a pet.
After all of that we finally return to that one place we got turned away from earlier, sidestepping Tiamat's rotting carcass as we enter ground zero and plant the pillars.
I spent an embarrassing amount of time wandering around Japan trying to figure out what to do next before coming to the realization that the hell portal statues were a hint rather than an actual secret, and enter hell via the pillar using the same technique.
