What it does imply is zoomers don't even read enough to understand differences in literary diet. Zoomers are as ignorant about books as the hypothetical grandma is about game genres.

Every generation is going to get increasingly worse with no reversal in sight. The drug at work here is internet access. The peak for internet access was somewhere between 1990-2005. Peak generation was already 10-20 years old wherever that point actually was. Each generation after the peak declines in quality every year. Humans cannot interface with mass communication tech in a healthy way. It's not zoomers' fault specifically, it's a factor outside their control. Nobody is or should blame zoomers for being born past the peak. The degradation effects all of us too.
