There's nothing wrong with having multiple villains. But there's villains, and then there's the Nemesis. Even when Kirby is taking on the new cosmic horror of the week, you always fight Dedede in some shape or form. Kirby even has his own hype nostalgia villain in Dark Matter. Everyone is always hyped to see the black eye come back in some shape or form, even if just implied.
