You can do it with hero's feast, death ward, aid, and freedom of movement as well.
On the one hand, it's obviously very powerful and can mess up the game's balance.
On the other hand, there's rules for it in the real rulebook and it makes logical sense to cast some of these on people you were helping save the world.
I think aid and hero's feast make sense and fall within the way the spell was meant to be used, while warding bond is cheesing it a bit since the spell is supposed to have the downside of splitting the damage to the caster and you circumvent that by leaving them at camp. So you can use your discretion on what feels natural vs what feels cheesy.
