I'm fine with people re-imagining, but as long as it makes some sort of sense or has a valid reason. Like the whole "dwarves are maggotmen" thing, it works because Norse myth says dwarves were born in Ymir's corpse like, so the maggot connection makes some sense.

But when people do shit where they just shove random, unconnected shit together and say "this is a [insert existing creature here]" but has no resemblance to that creature, it's retarded and stupid. It would be better to just call it something else.
