Two other very popular nations are England and Prussia.

>England
As said in prior posts, you start off in a VERY different England to the one in EU4. King Edward III has made England go from a relatively backward/lackluster Kingdom to an incredibly powerful one-and he's hoping to seize the throne of France, which would propel his power (and that of England) to an insane degree.

However, there's a lot more to look forward to. When the Protestant reformation hits, England gets its own religion (Anglicanism) and also has to worry about the British Isles; Ireland is absolutely not under your control yet, nor is Scotland. You'll have to deal with both to unite the islands and form "Great Britain." You are also a coloniser nation-you are often a bit later to the party, and will have to contest with Spain's insane strength to assert your own early Empire.

>Brandenburg (aka, Prussia)
You will have seen memes about them.

Brandenburg was a backwards shithole in northern Germany, which was eventually fixed up by the Hohenzollern dynasty. These are the big military guys; your goals are typically to embrace the Protestant Reformation and expand your territory within the Holy Roman Empire through both military might and diplomatic prowess.

Eventually you can form Prussia-usually one of the most powerful military nations in the game. Very fun rags-to-riches run. Speaking of

>Holy Roman Empire
The ugly messy border gore Germany/Italy is the Holy Roman Empire (HRE). A highly decentralised "Empire" of states big and small, with an elected "Emperor." You can try to form nations within it (like Prussia) or reform and unify it (usually the goal of Austria with the Habsburg dynasty). Very fun, very autistic.
