Like, take the mystri stage for example. Really cool idea, right? A big stage where each legendary and even some notable species are represented.
Well, new legendaries have been added to the game since then and yet the mystri stage never gained any expansions other than Giratina's circle being added. Nothing for Kyurem/Reshiram/Zekrom or Zygarde/Xerneas/Yveltal or Necrozma/Cosmog or Eternautus/Sword Dogs.

Evidently, they started with the basic cool idea and stopped right there.
