Doing hard things has unironically pulled me out of the worst times of my life. I'm not gonna claim it'll work for everyone but it did 100% for me. I used to basically only pursue comfort, ease, and pleasure but over the years that all just stopped feeling good and put me in a hole, but working out hard, being disciplined with my diet (no matter what), daily cold plunge, actually working at work and just general "face difficulty head on" (and ofc no pmo) has made happier than I could have imagined.

Of course its hard and not easy, almost unbearable to face boredom and pain, but its way better than suffering in self imposed anhedonia, and the more I do it, the easier it becomes, and the more difficulty I willingly take on, the more pleasurable the good stuff becomes; when I actually work hard all day, I legitimately enjoy playing vidya for a bit when I get home, or just scrolling, or eating a simple meal, it all feels good again, and I sleep great.

The whole tryhard le alpha wannabe jocko goggins shit has gotten so trashed on the last few years and im not saying you can't go overboard with it, but im so convinced that weakness is the biggest modern problem; weakness, inability to endure boredom or difficulty, low time preference etc is what is making every miserable. My advice to anyone struggling is to go do hard things, you know what they are.
