No it absolutely implies a timeskip. This is not how you describe something going from Monday to Tuesday, this is saying you reorient the story into a completely new direction which, hey if you think you can manage that in a week in-game go for it. I can't really think of a way to justify this being something that isn't handled in a timeskip.
