That's totally classic and cozy, but look at their proportions. It's not bad, per se, but I wouldn't call that peak. The backgrounds are simplistic storytelling devices, the colors are.. four. Except, we have better tools and methods now. Proportions are often way better. Backgrounds can be characters, not just devices. And the colors.... omg... I am simply LOVING the colors of today's books. Pic very related.
