Old initiatives from the Oculus days to pay experienced third party flat devs for VR games resulted in Stormland, Medal of Honor and a handful of forgettable mediocre games.
4 to 5 years ago Meta were throwing money at the problem to build up a base of experienced VR developers but it's taken time to get results.
8 different studios were bought, of which 6 survive today, and from them we've got 3 new games and 1 port; Batman, Asgard's Wrath, Lone Echo 2 and Resi 4. With one more for 2025 with Deadpool.
Earlier this year Meta's Director of Games said that over $2 billion has been spent so far on funding VR games and apps.
