For me it's simple, most actual BL/GLs are boring as fuck. Have you seen how many of those are highschool SoL "b-but we're both girls/boys" drama bullshit? There's a much bigger variety of stories and characters with non-homo series, and most fujos (dunno about yurikeks I only read GL sometimes) can make do with their imagination if they like two characters and/or their dynamics enough.
