I quickly made a comparison using your clip here, and the skip is a tiny bit faster but as you say loses the extra light attack
Since light light heavy tends to keep minoris from tickling you just as well as the skip, I'm not quite sure what the skip really helps with
I personally don't use the skip because it's needlessly complex to input for what effectively isn't enough reward to me, and because the shoulder check is a nice instant deploy to have for certain situations like needing CHP back or a really quick stagger/minoris knockover
