New player here too. I found my local using the bandai app, this is the browser version:

I suggest to check before hand if they actually play. In my case some are near present here but no one actually plays. I advice is to check their websites or, more easily, check using the app if they have events planned. Im actually going next week for the first time to mine (is a bit far from me) to celebrate the new set and Digimon day! With these >>95928761 just mixed together, im gonna get destroyed.
About the mood, cant go wrong with 01-02-Tamers.
I like Savers quite a bit. Dunno about the others, they may not be of your liking.
Adventure 2020 in my opinion is kinda cool if you treat it like a weird addendum of the og series, not so good on its own.
Liberators is very good and it goes extra on the card game hype.
And the movies are a good choice too.
