The TGstation github is just depressing to look at. Half of the PRs at any given time are about "game balance" in one way or another. Even if the PR itself has nothing to do with game balance, someone will reply to it with concerns about muh balance. People will make balance changes for the most retarded reasons, like "this obscure reagent that has little functionality is supposed to be hard to obtain for some reason so I'm removing half the methods used to get it for balance reasons". You can't add in a new feature without someone immediately replying about some ramifications to game balance. If you try to patch a bug someone will leave a comment complaining about it because that bug is somehow used by powergamers and fixing it will affect game balance. You make one small map change and people will complain about game balance because apparently that maintenance tunnel is used by antags to get away from security and if you change it you're fucking with the game balance. That random static item spawn on a map? Essential for game balance. Shitty food item no chef ever makes? You touch that, and it'll ruin the game balance. Want to add job content to engineers so they stop being glorified tiders after setting up the SM? Game balance. Balance this, balance that. I have balance fatigue.
The worst part is that those people making all the PRs for game balance and complaining about game balance all the time in the forums, discord, and github aren't regular players. It's almost always admins, maintainers, and the players that are in their cliques. The shitty fucking obsessing with balanceposting and removing everything fun/interesting on TG is a top-down mandate sanctioned by the people who run the server. Every TG tranny admin bwoinking you for something about "powergaming" is a powergamer themselves with 20 PRs changing shit for "balance" purposes. These people claim to be roleplay-focused but they treat the game no different from a MOBA. Fuck them all.
