Dandelions work great to break up soil, but they’re a poor nutrition source of nectar for pollinators in the US where dandelion is non-native. Having said that, I would prefer, and have had, a yard full of dandelions, clover, and wild strawberries over shitty grass. The grass was always a bitch to mow and I eventually became allergic to it. I had to start wearing a mask like a COVID lunatic.
Microclover is amazing ground cover. Doesn’t grow high, tolerates some abuse, fixes nitrogen, and produces beautiful flowers. I over-seeded areas of my yard that were torn up by stump removal (last owner was a BPD retard and cut a bunch of trees down and left the stumps in his maniac phases). It overtook the crappy grass seed the company laid down even though we had a drought. It was 100% worth it just to watch the bees buzzing happily from clover flower to clover flower.
